HELPFUL HINTS FOR COMPLETING THE OUTLINES
- OUTLINES MUST BE HANDWRITTEN.
- Outlines are MANDATORY ASSIGNMENTS through chapter 4. Disregard the top of the page explaining that you don't have to do them.
- Those students who do outlines after chapter 4 will be allowed to use them on future quizzes. No outline=closed note quiz.
- You do NOT have to use pen, but if you did, that's great. I don't really care and forgot to take it off the instructions.
- DO NOT write numbers or dates. You need to know time frames, not specific dates with very few exceptions (which I will tell you). And, you never need to know most numerical statistics, death rates, weapon tonnage, quantity of ships.
For example, if you were completing the outline for "Cultures of Central and South America" on pg. 2, you could say:
"The Incas and South America and the Aztecs and Mayans in Mexico and Central America developed very complex societies, including trade and science. They also cultivated corn and potatoes."
...not:
"Between 300 and 800 they built remarkable cities in the Yucatan. The Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan had 200,000 people." **
** If you already did this, do not go back and redo, just start from where you left off, or do it next chapter.
